Last week was Black Maternal Health Week. This years theme, “Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy,” emphasizes the power of Black-led perinatal, maternal, and reproductive health organizations to drive systemic change and foster community healing.

Pregnancy and Substance Use: A Survey of Real Experiences

MNPQC is currently collecting Postpartum Patient Experience Surveys on Navigating Perinatal Healthcare with Substance Use Disorder in Minnesota. We seek responses from individuals who have been pregnant in the past 5 years while using drugs or alcohol, though those who did not are also welcome. The anonymous survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete, and participants can receive a $20 gift card. Available in English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.

AWHONN MN Section's 26th Annual Conference

Join MNPQC in attending the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) MN Section 26th Annual Conference happening on April 24-25, 2026, in Oakdale, MN.

Speakers will touch on a variety of topics, including perinatal diabetes, birth trauma, supporting families through perinatal loss, and more.

LINK ECHO Series

Session 3

On April 21st, Fran Prekker, MD, from Hennepin Healthcare, will provide a broad overview of toxicology screening with a deeper focus on Child Protective Services (CPS) reporting processes and related considerations. Designed for a statewide audience engaged in perinatal mental health and substance use disorder care, participants will explore best practices and challenges related to CPS reporting, fostering collaboration and shared learning across disciplines.

Upcoming Educational Sessions on Naloxone

Naloxone Access & Integration Sprint starting on April 22nd. This educational sprint is designed to support healthcare communities in expanding Naloxone access and distribution within perinatal care settings. Throughout this sprint, participants will explore effective strategies, implementation approaches, and policy considerations while fighting stigma and breaking down barriers to access. Overall, this intends to strengthen community-wide overdose prevention efforts in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Perinatal Quality Collaborative’s 2025 Perinatal Improvement Summit provides an “All Teach, All Learn” opportunity for education, resources, and expertise sharing with a space to make connections across disciplines, hospitals, and statewide geography as we work to improve perinatal health outcomes and experiences for our Minnesota families.
